Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, was virtually unknown to the general population until 1955. It was then that a group of parents formed CFF to be the driving force in pursuit of a cure. One of those parents was Phyllis Kossoff, a sister of Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Chapter at Hunter College.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been the official philanthropy of Delta Phi Epsilon since 1958. The Foundation receives funds from chapters to support research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, and to improve the quality of life for over 30,000 children and young adults with the disease. Beta Xi holds an annual male beauty pageant, Deepher Dude, each year to raise money for CFF. Last year, Deepher Dude raised over $1,900! Last Fall, we also volunteered at the Great Strides Walk for CFF for the first time.
